NLP & Healthy Scepticism

So, with having a strong medical background (Registered Nurse for 30 years), I tentatively entered the training room at Kawai Purapura with excitement and few expectations. I had seen 'seemingly amazing results' on clients with chronic health issues at the GP conference presentation of a fellow Master Practitioner. She kindly forwarded me the details of Dr Richard Bolstad and Transformations International Limited and I promptly signed up to be trained as an NLP Practitioner.


I spent the first several days trying to work out if and then when, our trainer was trying to trick me or access my unconscious mind (sorry Richard).

I quickly learned through Richard's and his wife Julia's expert teaching methods, that NLP (neuro linguistic programming) has amazing tools to help you overcome stress, anxiety, phobias, low self-esteem, and many other challenges that may be holding you back from living your best life. In becoming trained, we not only tried, experimented and repeated all the methods on ourselves, but any willing family and friend participants.


Because of my background and work history, I have always been passionate about helping people heal and thrive. But I also felt that there was something missing in the conventional medical approach. I was keen to learn more about the mind-body connection and how to tap into the potential of the subconscious mind. I was intrigued by the testimonials of people who had achieved amazing results with NLP, such as overcoming chronic pain, quitting smoking, or overcoming trauma. I was curious to find out how NLP worked and what it could do for myself and potential clients. To put it frankly, I was blown away by what I learned.


I discovered that NLP is not a magic trick or a manipulation technique. It is a science and an art that teaches you how to communicate effectively with yourself and others. It teaches you how to understand your own mind and how to utilise it to its greatest potential. I learned how to access positive states of mind, such as confidence, calm, and motivation. I learned how to release negative emotions, such as anger, fear, and guilt. I learned how to set and achieve goals that align with my values and purpose.


I must admit, I was very pleasantly surprised with everything that I learned. It was always made to be so interesting and just seemed to make absolute sense. I felt like I 'couldn't get enough' information and loved the fact that Richard had research and evidence to back up everything he was teaching. I loved it so much, I continued on to complete my Master Practitioner training.


Applying what I learned to myself, I noticed a huge difference in how I felt and acted. I became more confident, happier, and healthier. I'm also sharing what I've learned with my clients and have witnessed amazing transformations in their lives. They became more empowered, resilient, and fulfilled.
