Curiosity, Healing, and Growth: My Journey into Mind-body Connection & Wellness Continues..

My curiosity about the mind-body connection and wellness continues to grow, leading me down a path of ongoing learning and self-discovery. Over the past 2 years, I have read countless books—each one opening my mind further to the powerful connection between our thoughts, emotions, and physical health. Some of my favourites include The Power of Neuroplasticity, The Body Keeps the Score, You Can Heal Your Life, When The Body Says No, The MindBody Toolkit, and Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself. Each one has solidified my belief that we have far more control over our well-being than we may have thought.

My journey hasn’t been without its challenges—personally, professionally, and even physically. From multiple accidents throughout my life to navigating major career shifts, I have found that the key to growth is in reframing my perspective. Instead of asking, why is this happening to me? I now ask, why is this happening for me? This shift in mindset alone, has been transformational, helping me embrace change rather than resist it.

One of the most powerful tools I have integrated into my practice is Havening®. If you haven’t heard of it before, the Havening Techniques® are a cutting-edge approach to emotional healing that uses soothing touch and neuroplasticity to shift trauma, stress, and limiting beliefs. These tools can help rewire the brain, reducing the emotional charge of past experiences and creating a sense of calm and resilience.

Amid all this learning and growing, life has been shifting in big ways too. Our family recently moved from the beachside community of Papamoa to a serene, property in Ohauiti, over-looking native bush. We are still surrounded by our beloved fur babies —two cats and two Staffordshire bull terriers—who remind me daily of the importance of presence and unconditional love. Our son is now in college, both step-daughters are in long-term relationships and continuing their careers in early childhood education and real estate. My husband is pivoting in his own career, and I’m continuing to build my wellness business. Change is constant, but with the right mindset and tools, it can be embraced rather than feared.

Starting and growing my business as a wellness practitioner has been one of the most rewarding (and sometimes frustrating and overwhelming) experiences of my life. But the more I learn, the more I realize that healing isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about experience, practice, and being open to what comes next.
