Background

Weight loss and the mind

Many people possess best intentions to lose weight and make healthy lifestyle changes, but can't commit long term.

Why is this so difficult?   When you really want to make changes, and you achieve to a high level in other areas of your life?

FACT...
Repeated failures result in reduced self-belief.   Many 'dieters' get caught up in a cycle of failure, where they resolve that tomorrow is another day and I'll-start-again, scenario. However, each time this occurs, self belief is lowered.

Do you really believe that you can successfully lose weight? Or do you want to believe that you can? If your attempts to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle have been short lived or a struggle, it is most likely due to mind blocks.

For example, consistently sending your mind messages like:

  • I'm fed up!
  • I can't stop eating in the evenings
  • I'm always thinking ahead to what I will eat next ... and so on

These messages will be registered by your mind as:

  • You are fed up!
  • You can't stop eating in the evenings
  • Always think ahead for the next opportunity to eat.

How can you ever succeed!   When your mind is influenced and programmed by your repeated thoughts, beliefs and feelings of failure.

We believe that long term weight loss success and maintenance is based on changing belief systems. As the saying goes, until you believe it, you will never achieve it. Unfortunately there is a difference between believing and wanting to believe.

Program History

The Weight Loss Mind Program was developed by MindCoach's, Megan Blatchford-Peck.

After retiring from competitive cycling and some years later, becoming a first time Mother, Megan noticed that her weight had increased.   Although she was not excessively overweight, she found her attempts to shift '5 to 8 kilograms' extremely frustrating.   She had good intentions but defaulted continually to, 'I'll start again' after repeated failures.

Television coverage of an international Ironman competition, triggered Megan to recall the power of an athletes mind-body connection.

With this awareness, Megan developed a series of 'mind exercises' based on techniques she had used years earlier as a competitive cyclist and practiced them daily to help her achieve weight loss success.   She was amazed by the effortless breakthroughs she made to shed unwanted kilograms.

Working as a Life Coach, Megan had clients who had become frustrated by their inability to make the breakthrough to long term weight loss success. Megan spent 12 months researching and working with her clients to identify the blocks, barriers and limiting beliefs that sabotage weight loss success. She developed the Mind Techniques and Strategies to target and change individual's mind blocks and barriers to achieve long term weight loss success.

The results have been outstanding for those whose lives have been dominated and controlled by food and their body image.
